Off to Portland!

Our wedding on Tuesday was absolutely beautiful!  Or at least from my view.  Bailey and I, along with our parents, just stood in a line all evening until the cake eating/bouquet toss/departure, so we don't really know what was going on at our party.  We can't wait to see our wedding pictures!

After the wedding Bailey and I were starving, so a quick trip to Wendy's was in order.  That is, after driving through a high-power car wash ran by teenagers.  They took pity on us newlyweds and washed (for free, and two minutes before closing) all of the sketchy things off the vehicle we were driving.

We drove to Salt Lake City to spend the night at Anniversary Inn, where we stayed in the Romeo & Juliet Suite.  We thought the stairs in that room would be super cool, but they aren't as cool at 3 in the morning when you wake up really needing to pee.

Anyway, the next morning we set off to Boise to spend the night!  After a stop at Smith & Edward's of course.  Bailey had never been there, so we had tons of fun walking up and down every aisle!  And buying things that we probably don't need, haha.

It wasn't too long of a drive to Boise, so we got there pretty early in the evening.  We headed downtown and explored a bit.  We turned the corner to see the capitol building!  It was so gorgeous!

Boise is probably cool in the middle of the day, but literally everything in the city closes at like 6pm.  So we decided to eat dinner and call it a night!  We ate at Fork Restaurant, which we found online.  It was seriously amazing!  We are still dreaming of those parmesan fries...

We got up early the next day for a longer drive to Portland!  We took turns driving.  Bailey's mom had given us some "Just Married" vinyl decals to put on the car after we washed off the window paint, so everywhere we went people congratulated us!

Eventually we reached our destination, which was the most beautiful little farmhouse!  We were greeted by the cutest family who was hosting us, and they led us to our private little house.  It was super cool!  And very eco friendly.  There was a sink on top of the toilet, and when you flushed it turned on for you to wash your hands, using the runoff from your hands to fill the back of the toilet.

We chatted with one of the hosts (a cool British guy who moved to Sauvie Island to build his dream home and farm) for a bit while he was on his tractor, and he recommended some places for us to visit in Portland.  Since the night was young, we went to the exact street he recommended to check out - Northwest 23rd, in the Pearl District!

We even went to where he recommended for dinner, a delicious place called Bamboo Sushi.  I'm not generally a sushi kind of gal, but it sounded good and it definitely was!

We also went to Salt & Straw, a very Portland kind of ice cream shop.  They had all sorts of interesting and super delicious flavors!  I ordered salted caramel, and Bailey ordered almond brittle with salted ganache.  We promptly switched because we liked each other's better!

Before it got dark, we headed back to Sauvie Island to make sure we could find our place again.  We did, and were amazed how beautiful the farm was at sunset!

We stayed in the little building on the right.

When dark, the place was absolutely silent and we could see the stars.  I wish we could have stayed more than one night!
