Merida's Sunday Market

This morning we went straight to the grand plaza for the Sunday Market! Every Sunday they close down the surrounding streets and fill them and the plaza with vendors. We had so much fun walking through the stalls and seeing all of the colorful crafts and products!

We bought a few things, then we got interested in the food. We had seen a video featuring marquesitas on YouTube the other day and thought that it looked so weird! It’s basically a thin waffle cone type crepe filled with caramel and cheese. We didn’t think we would like it but knew we had to try the specialty while we were in the area. So we bought one. And we loved it! It was so delicious. Too delicious to just eat one half of, so we soon after bought one for each of us! So tasty!

We also needed some actual lunch, so we sat down in a tent and were served some delicious tacos. Tacos will never get old, my friends!

After we had soaked up all the fun of the market, it was time to check out of our Airbnb and catch our bus to Cancun. Honestly we were kind of sad to leave Merida. It’s such a gorgeous, safe area! But we will be back later this week, so that makes us happy.

We arrived in Cancun this evening and after a dinner from a nearby Oxxo (basically gas station food), we are calling it a night! We need to rest up for our upcoming aquatic adventures!
